Heather Spillers Poole is a Louisiana native and began her career in higher education over 25 years ago at the Board of Regents where she worked in a number of capacities primarily serving as the Assistant Commissioner of Assessment and Economic Development where she coordinated a number of statewide initiatives. In 2011, she assumed an additional role as the Executive Director and Dean of the Learning Center for Rapides Parish. In a dual capacity, she has also worked with Louisiana Office of Financial Assistance providing grant management of over $20million dollars focused on College Access. On behalf of the Board of Regents, Heather has worked with a number of national groups including partners like: National College Access Network, Gates Foundation, Lumina, National Center for Higher Education Management, Ed Trust, and Complete College America.
In 2013, to gain college campus experience Heather began working with Louisiana State University of Alexandria as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Enrollment Services overseeing Admissions, Recruitment, Financial Aid, Continuing Education and Community Outreach. With continued double-digit enrollment increases, she became the lead development and recruitment strategist for LSUA. While at LSUA she created and launched the dual enrollment high school, University Academy that has continued to grow over the last 7 years.
In January 2015, she embarked on a new higher education mission with Central LA Technical Community College where she serves as Executive Vice Chancellor of Student Services and is the Director of Foundation Relations. Since starting with CLTCC she has been responsible for providing leadership and initiative in the planning, implementation and administration of the campus’s recruitment, outreach and enrollment efforts. With a great team, CLTCC has had an amazing “come-back story”. Since joining the college, CLTCC has continued to see steady enrollment growths.
Heather earned both her undergraduate degree and her Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University, and completed her Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Louisiana Tech. Heather is married to Scott Poole. They have four children: Matthew 27 (LSUHSC-NO), Cameron 21 (USMC), EmmaScott 13 and Isaac 12 (ACDS).
